A lucky apartment buyer in Drancy, Seine-Saint-Denis, has turned his home purchase into a lucrative investment. Samir, a 50-year-old resident, discovered on May 19 that he had won InterConstruction’s "Buy an apartment, win an apartment" game. Alongside his own apartment, he now owns a 30 sqm studio, including parking, worth €165,000.

Located in the city center with easy access to RER B, shops, schools, and green spaces, Samir's studio can be rented for between €650 and €800 per month, according to InterConstruction. Delighted with his unexpected fortune, Samir finds it a "financial relief" that will help him look to the future more tranquilly.

If Samir did not have a propensity for real estate investment or the desire to pay two property taxes each year, he would have options. The game's rules allow the winner to refuse or sell the prize whenever they wish, without the possibility of giving it away.

InterConstruction, based in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), struggled to sell certain apartments in various programs due to high credit rates. The promoter launched the game with 382 apartments for sale across eight construction programs located in Ile-de-France. Ranging from studios to family apartments of five or six rooms, prices ranged between €150,000 and over one million euros. Buyers via Showroomprive also benefited from offered notary fees and a €5,000 voucher for furniture and decoration items on the site.

This type of "buy an apartment, win an apartment" game is somewhat uncommon in mainstream real estate promotions, though raffles and contests where participants can win a home by purchasing tickets are gaining attention. For instance, a house raffle in Ireland is currently being held, with participants able to win a house for as little as €9 by buying tickets. However, these promotions are more about raffling off properties rather than directly linking them to purchasing an apartment.

Samir's newfound property empowers him to explore potential rental actions, considering his studio's value falls between €650 and €800 per month. His unexpected real-estate investment, worth €165,000, offers financial advantages, providing a sense of relief and optimism for the future, although he retains the option to sell or refuse the prize if his circumstance or preferences shift regarding financing and investing in multiple properties.
