Demolition of Former AOK Building in Hürth-Hermülheim Begins April-May 2025
The demolition of the former AOK building in Hürth-Hermülheim is set to commence between late April and early May 2025. The project aims to clear the site by the end of September 2025, paving the way for a new urban development project, 'Lifeline Lux'.
The demolition process will be meticulous and considerate. It will proceed floor by floor, from top to bottom, using a combination of machinery and manual labor. This method minimizes vibrations, ensuring minimal disruption to nearby residents. Potentially hazardous materials and recyclables will be disposed of properly and separately, with maximum consideration for the environment.
Before demolition begins, a public auction will be held to sell any remaining furniture and fixtures. Selected materials will be provided for a research project in collaboration with RWTH Aachen. The project includes a new building, a plaza with a water feature, plenty of greenery, and high-quality amenities. No additional road closures are necessary beyond the existing closure of Luxemburger Straße.
The demolition of the former AOK building marks the start of the 'Lifeline Lux' urban development project. The cleared site will be transformed into a modern, green space with high-quality amenities. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September 2025.
