Deadline for 2025 Essen Environment Prize Submissions: October 15th!
The City of Essen is preparing for the 18th Essener Umweltpreis, an annual award that recognizes outstanding climate and environmental projects. Sponsored by the city administration, the award offers a total prize money of 12,000 euros, including a special prize of 2,000 euros labelled "Fairtrade 2025". Projects from residents, associations, institutions, and small and medium-sized enterprises are sought for the award. To be eligible, the projects or initiatives must have been implemented within the last two years and current measures must be completed by the end of January 2026. However, projects that are or have been funded by municipal or BIB funding projects are excluded from participation. Projects on environmental or climate protection and climate adaptation that offer a social benefit and improve the quality of life locally are particularly encouraged. For the special prize "Fairtrade 2025", the city portal is seeking projects and activities on fair trade that inspire imitation and/or connect fair trade with other topics like gender equality or diversity. Applications for the award are possible until October 15, 2025. Interested parties can find information about the award on the website www.our website/umweltpreis.
