Data release from Hungary's digital records delayed as per ZDK's declaration
The implementation of the QR code for digitally retrieving HU data, scheduled for September 16, 2025, has been postponed, according to the Federal Ministry of Transport. The exact new dates for the rollout have yet to be detailed, as of September 21, 2025.
This QR code, originating from the central vehicle register, is part of the vehicle registration process and will now be introduced alongside the digital vehicle registration certificate (DFZ). It can be used by vehicle owners or their representatives.
The QR code can be accessed through the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) website or the KBA application, although no new information regarding this method has been provided.
The delay in the QR code implementation will not impact order intake, representation certificates, and identity checks at testing stations. The annual HU obligation for older vehicles, planned by the EU Commission, remains unaffected.
The Kfz trade has called for an improvement in Workshop EU guidelines on vehicle data and has rejected the annual main inspection. The association of the QR code with the Federal Ministry of Transport has been confirmed, but no new information regarding this connection has been provided.
The Zentralverband Deutsches Kraftfahrzeuggewerbe (ZDK) was informed about the delay by the Federal Ministry of Transport. The Kfz industry has expressed concerns about the delay, as the QR code was intended to streamline the digital vehicle registration process.
The digital inspection report via QR code was meant to be an addition to the current paper-based report, providing a more efficient and eco-friendly solution. However, the indefinite delay in the QR code implementation means that the current system will continue for the time being.
It is hoped that the delay will be temporary, and a new implementation date will be announced soon. Until then, the vehicle registration process will continue as usual.
