Cutting costs: Kaufland reduces prices on over 500 items

Kaufland Announces Price Reductions for Over 500 Products

Neckarsulm, May 26, 2025 - Kaufland, the well-known supermarket chain, has announced permanent price cuts for more than 500 own-brand and branded products across various categories.

For example, the price of K-Classic Zaziki (500 grams) has been reduced from €1.89 to €1.65, while the K-Classic Roasted and Salted Nut Mix (150 grams) now costs €1.39 instead of €1.79. The K-Classic Delicatessen Bratwurst, Stage 2 (10 pieces), is now available for €5.59, down from €5.99.

Jochen Kratz, Board Member Germany at Kaufland, commented, "Our commitment to our customers remains steadfast: we offer an extensive range of over 30,000 food items, far outnumbering any discount store, at the same price points. These ongoing reductions on everyday essentials send a clear message: our customers can always depend on our product variety and prices, negating the need for a visit to the discounter."

Amid increasing living costs this year, Kaufland has already lowered the price of over 1,500 items, with recent reductions observed in juices and baked goods. Last year, over 4,000 items received permanent price cuts.

The supermarket chain has been proactive in addressing cost concerns, notably implementing dynamic pricing to minimize food waste by offering end-of-day discounts on perishable items like fruits, vegetables, and baked goods. Kaufland's strategic pricing has also been part of a broader trend in the German market as retailers like Lidl and Aldi engage in a price war.

  • In line with their commitment to customers, Kaufland, a prominent player in both the retail and finance sectors, has extended price cuts to over 500 products in various business categories beyond food items, aiming to provide more affordable options for consumers amid rising living costs.
  • Jochen Kratz, Board Member Germany at Kaufland, has emphasized the supermarket's commitment to offering product variety at competitive prices, even as other industry players like Lidl and Aldi compete in a price war, reaffirming Kaufland's position in the finance and retail business landscape.
