Customs Raid Uncovers Widespread Illegal Work in Franconia's Construction Industry
The Financial Control of Illegal Work of the Customs (FKS) has conducted a major inspection in the construction industry across Lower and Upper Franconia. A total of 85 officials from the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt were involved, focusing on potential violations of employment regulations and social security rules.
The inspection, carried out under the FKS's risk-oriented approach, targeted construction sites across both regions. A total of 165 employees were questioned about their employment relationships. The customs office, known for its focus on combating illegal work in the construction industry, checked if employers had registered their employees with the social security office, if employees were receiving social benefits incorrectly, and if minimum wages were being complied with. In cases involving foreign employees, the inspection also verified if they had a valid work permit or residence title for the employment.
The Hauptzollamt Schweinfurt likely collaborated with various law enforcement and labor agencies for this operation, although specific details about these collaborations are not provided. The inspection resulted in numerous detected violations, which are now subject to further investigations and checks.
The FKS's nationwide targeted inspection has uncovered several irregularities in the construction industry of Lower and Upper Franconia. The Main Customs Office Schweinfurt, with the support of other agencies, is now working to address these issues and ensure compliance with employment and social security regulations.
