Customs Raid Nets 50kg of Untaxed E-Vapes at Heinsberg Shisha Bar
Customs officers recently conducted a tax act at a shisha bar in the Heinsberg district, following an anonymous tip. The investigation led to the arrest of the bar owner and an employee, both suspected of tax evasion and violating the Tobacco Tax Act.
The raid began after a man was seen locking a van and entering the bar. The vehicle was later discovered to be registered to the 45-year-old bar owner. Initially, the owner claimed not to have the van key, but later produced another key to allow enforcement. Inside the van, officers found a substantial amount of untaxed e-vapes and waterpipe tobacco, weighing nearly 50 kg and containing approximately 16,000 milliliters of liquid. Despite this discovery, only taxed tobacco products were found inside the bar itself. Criminal proceedings have been opened against the owner and his 34-year-old employee.
The tax audit at the Heinsberg shisha bar has resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of untaxed tobacco products. The bar owner and an employee now face criminal charges for suspected tax evasion and violations of the Tobacco Tax Act. The investigation is ongoing.
