Customs Raid in Ingolstadt: 7 Cases of Illegal Employment Uncovered

The Main Customs Office Augsburg (Mainzollamt Augsburg) recently conducted a local audit day in the Ingolstadt area, focusing on the hospitality and accommodation industry. Over 50 officers were involved, inspecting 25 businesses and questioning 60 employees about their employment status.

The audit, held last Tuesday, aimed to combat illegal work and employment. It was part of the FKS's risk-oriented approach to nationwide and regional inspections. Officers checked for employee registration with social security, social benefit fraud, and minimum wage compliance.

Seven cases require further investigation. Three are suspected of illegal employment of foreigners, while four involve withholding social security contributions. The audit also revealed attempts by employees to flee during checks, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.

The Mainzollamt Augsburg encourages anyone with questions about the inspection or its results to contact Tim Hagenbusch. His details are provided on the customs office's website, www.zoll.de.

The local audit day in Ingolstadt is part of the customs office's ongoing efforts to reduce the social acceptance of illegal work and contribute to offense detection and punishment. The results of the investigation into the seven cases will be made public in due course.
