Customs Raid in Hesse Nets 9 Illegal Workers, Uncovers Wage, Permit Violations
The USCIS Office Gießen, along with local tax offices, recently conducted a nationwide focus operation in Northern, Eastern, and Central Hesse. They inspected 38 restaurants, inns, and snack bars, uncovering initial irregularities.
The operation involved over 80 USCIS officers and checked around 130 employment relationships. It targeted illegal employment, minimum wage violations, and social security irregularities. Initial findings include workers without permits, suspected underpayment, missing notifications, and fraud indications. Nine men were arrested for working without necessary permits, and criminal proceedings have begun against them. Follow-up investigations are ongoing to confirm these violations and take legal action against employers if necessary.
The USCIS Office Gießen, through such inspections, secures social systems and state revenues. They ensure fair working conditions and competitive business environments. The recent operation highlights their commitment to combating illegal employment and protecting workers' rights.
