Customs Office in Schweinfurt summarizes revenues: approximately 1.8 billion euros contributed to the federal treasury in 2023
In the heart of Bavaria, the Schweinfurt Customs office has been making significant strides in revenue collection and combating illegal employment practices.
Last year, the office completed over 4,200 criminal proceedings and nearly 300 penalty proceedings in the field of customs and excise offenses at the Central Penalty and Fine Office North Bavaria. The efforts resulted in fines totaling over 53.6 million euros, a testament to the office's relentless pursuit of justice.
The office's primary revenue streams were customs duties and import VAT, which amounted to a staggering 1.08 billion euros in 2023. This figure represents a steady increase from the 1.7 billion euros collected in 2021.
The fight against the shadow economy also saw success. The Financial Control of Black Work, a unit within the Schweinfurt customs, managed to reduce the damage caused by illegal employment from 32.8 million euros in 2022 to 24 million euros in 2023.
The motor vehicle tax assessment office of the Main Customs Office Schweinfurt is responsible for nearly 2 million vehicles in Lower and Upper Franconia. The motor vehicle tax collected in 2023 amounts to 280 million euros, an increase from the previous year's 268 million euros.
The Schweinfurt Customs office, with 700 employees, is not only a significant contributor to the national economy but also an attractive employer. It offers a family and life phase-oriented work environment, good pay from the start, and exciting workplaces.
To further engage with the community, the office will be hosting an open day on July 13, 2024, from 10:00 - 15:00 at Londonstraße 24 in Schweinfurt. This event provides an opportunity for students and interested citizens to talk to customs officers and gain insights into the world of customs.
In addition to its revenue-generating activities, the Schweinfurt Customs office plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of goods imported into the European Union. It prevents the entry of inferior medicines, unsafe technical products, and counterfeit products into the region.
