Customs Bust Polish Trucking Firm Owing €8,663 in Unpaid Tolls
Customs teams in Aachen, alongside colleagues from Cologne, intercepted a Polish transport company on the A4 motorway near Düren on 4 June 2025. The operation, led by the Aachen customs office, resulted in the recovery of €8,663.50 in unpaid tolls.
The Polish company, with 48 outstanding enforcement orders, was found to have removed its company logos from trucks to avoid detection. The Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility, based in Cologne, was present during the control and confirmed the company's history of such practices.
This was not an isolated incident. In May 2025, a Bulgarian transport company was caught near Aachen for the same reason, with the driver settling the enforcement order on the spot using a credit card. The Aachen customs office is known for intercepting individuals and companies that owe money to the tax office.
The successful enforcement of the €8,663.50 claim against the Polish transport company highlights the commitment of customs teams in Aachen and Cologne to tackle unpaid tolls and related offenses. The operation serves as a reminder to transport companies to comply with toll payment regulations to avoid similar interventions.
