Crystal Palace Park's £17.45M Redevelopment Unveiled
Bromley Council has unveiled a £17.45 million redevelopment plan for Crystal Palace Park in south London. The project management aims to restore two key sites: the Grade-II listed Italian Terraces and the Lower Paxton Axis. Completion is expected by 2032, promising social value and tourism boosts.
The redevelopment follows outline planning permission granted in 2021 to infrastructure consulting firm Aecom for the entire park's restoration. The council plans upgrades to the Penge Gate, reinstatement of park views from the Lower Paxton Axis, and new kitchen and toilet facilities. Bids for the project are currently being evaluated, with 60% based on cost and 40% on quality. Unrealistically high or low quotes are being marked down. Meanwhile, Dalston and Hackney are also set for a revamp, with several council-owned sites to be developed into a mixed-use site for community facilities, commercial spaces, and a refurbished Hackney Central station.
The £17.45 million redevelopment of Crystal Palace Park is underway, with a focus on restoring key sites and enhancing the visitor experience. The project is expected to bring significant social value and tourism benefits to the area upon completion in 2032.
