Crash Involving Trucks and Regular Transport Vehicles
Neuss: A Chaotic Intersection
The Neuss scene on February 19, 2024, 6:16 PM, was far from serene. A collision between a truck and a tram at Hammfelddamm / Stresemannallee leave a bitter aftertaste. Initial reports indicated the truck attempted to turn right, sadly resulting in a head-on collision with the tram, lifting its front carriage off the tracks.
Dozens of passengers inside the tram sustained minor injuries. Thankfully, medical personnel quickly responded, and an additional boost from emergency services across the district and Düsseldorf lessened the chaos. In total, ten individuals, including a child, received medical attention and were transported to nearby hospitals.
The fire department played a vital role, securing the accident site, illuminating the area, and assisting the emergency services during their life-saving efforts. Despite their best efforts, the police were left to piece together the puzzle, as the cause of the accident remains a mystery in their ongoing investigation.
The RAMBahn later took over the site and began removing the tram, involving approximately 50 emergency services personnel from the fire department and other services.
