Kuwait Fire Service Directorate Conducts Fire Safety Inspection Campaign, Closes 161 Facilities
The Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) recently conducted an intensive fire safety inspection campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial 2 area. The campaign, which was a joint effort between the KFSD and several other government entities, resulted in the administrative closure of 161 facilities due to fire safety violations.
During the inspections, teams encountered numerous violations, including expired licenses, improper storage of flammable materials, and faulty or exposed electrical wiring. These issues pose significant fire risks, as flammable materials were found packed unsafely and there was negligence around electrical systems.
The campaign was carried out in cooperation with the Kuwait Fire Force, Kuwait Municipality, and the Residence Affairs Investigations Department. In addition to the 161 facility closures, 221 warnings were issued to other facilities for violations that did not lead to closure but require corrective action.
The campaign is part of an ongoing series of fire safety inspections led by Major General Talal Al-Roumi, focusing on industrial areas like Shuwaikh Industrial 2 to prevent deadly fires by enforcing compliance with safety and fire prevention standards. The campaign was conducted with the participation of the Ministries of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Commerce and Industry, the Public Authority for Industry, and the Environment Public Authority.
The campaign was reported by Al-Jarida daily, highlighting the importance of maintaining fire safety in industrial areas. The KFSD will continue to work closely with other government entities to ensure compliance and promote a safer environment for all.
Due to the fire safety violations uncovered, the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) and its cooperating entities issued 221 warnings to facilities in addition to the 161 administrative closures, highlighting the need for better compliance with safety and fire prevention standards in the industrial sector. The ongoing fire safety inspections, led by Major General Talal Al-Roumi, emphasize the significance of adopting sound financial practices within the industry to ensure the installation of safe electrical systems, proper handling of flammable materials, and regular renewal of licenses to mitigate fire risks.
