Plastic Recycling Advancements at Vogt-Plastic GmbH

Marion Dammann, District Administrator, recently visited Vogt-Plastic GmbH in Rheinfelden to discuss plastic recycling and sustainable industrial processes. Accompanied by Alexander Maas from the Southwest Economic Region and Torsten Clement, Lörrach Economic Representative, Dammann praised the commitment of the family-owned company, which remains strongly rooted in the region despite international competition.

The focus of the visit was on the TReCo plant at Vogt-Plastic, a complete cycle from sorting to extrusion. The plant processes yellow bags from around five million people in South Baden and Brandenburg, creating high-quality raw materials for the plastics industry. During the visit, challenges posed by volatile markets and high energy costs were discussed.

The current status of pure regranulates and state-of-the-art sorting technology in plastic recycling reflects ongoing advancements focused on improving purity, quality, and circularity in recycled plastics. Companies like Vogt-Plastic GmbH operate in a competitive landscape where producing high-quality regranulates and efficient sorting are critical.

Regranulates are recycled plastic pellets made by reprocessing pure plastic waste streams or production residues into usable raw materials. Offers of various regranulates (LDPE, PP, BOPP, PBT, PC with glass fibers) with specified melt flow indices (MFI) demonstrate mature market availability and the importance of tailoring polymer grades to downstream applications.

Sorting technology is a key enabling factor in producing pure regranulates. Advanced sorting equipment allows fractionation of mixed plastic waste into homogenous streams suitable for reprocessing. Global leaders like EREMA offer sophisticated recycling systems incorporating advanced filtration, sorting, and process control technologies, enabling closed-loop recycling and high throughput of clean recycled pellets.

Although specific recent data on Vogt-Plastic GmbH is limited, given the competitive landscape, it is likely that the company continually integrates advanced machinery and processes to maintain its product quality and market position. Industry trends indicate that companies specializing in plastic regranulates are increasingly implementing high-efficiency sorting and recycling systems to improve purity and functionality of recycled plastics, positioning themselves for innovation within the circular economy framework.

Continuous improvements in sorting accuracy and throughput, combined with new chemical recycling techniques, promise to extend the range of recyclable plastics and improve recycled material quality beyond traditional mechanical methods. Digitalization and enhanced process monitoring are increasingly integrated into sorting lines to optimize yield and purity, reduce contamination, and enable traceability in recycled plastics.

Vogt-Plastic GmbH, with a workforce of approximately 360 employees, operates in a three-hall TReCo plant, which also includes office and laboratory space. Another focus of the visit was securing skilled workers, with Vogt mentioning initiatives such as training places and cooperation with schools. The visit underscored the importance of exchange between politics and business for future-oriented solutions.

  1. The high-quality raw materials produced by Vogt-Plastic's TReCo plant are essential for the plastics industry, demonstrating the company's significant contribution in the manufacturing sector, which intertwines with the finance and business frameworks.
  2. As global leaders in sorting technology advance, companies like Vogt-Plastic GmbH, operating in the finance-heavy field of business, are strategically implementing high-efficiency sorting and recycling systems to augment their competitive edge within the plastic recycling industry.
