Construction Progress on Tesla's Nevada Semi Truck Manufacturing Plant [VISUAL]
The construction of Tesla's Semi truck factory in Nevada is progressing rapidly, with the facility nearing completion and production tooling being actively installed. The factory, located near the existing Gigafactory Nevada complex, is designed to support full-scale production of up to 50,000 Tesla Semi trucks per year once fully operational.
Recent updates show that the stamping shop is now completed, and tools are being installed in the Powder Coat and Material Conveyance shops, indicating a strong move toward initial production readiness. The construction progress includes completed exterior work and nearing internal fit-out stages, with commissioning of assembly lines pending or starting imminently.
Tesla is transitioning from pilot builds to volume production, with improved and refreshed Semi models spotted near the factory. These updates include revised front bumper designs, electric PTO (Power Take-Off) systems, and new mirror and glass configurations aimed at improving functionality and aerodynamics.
The Tesla Semi, an all-electric Class 8 truck designed to replace diesel rigs, has already begun limited deliveries since 2022. Earlier this month, logistics company ArcBest completed a pilot with the Semi, praising its real-world performance and reliability. Longtime Tesla partner PepsiCo has also been trialing the Semi for its fleet over the past couple of years.
With production tooling now going in, it appears Tesla is edging closer to ramping up production of the Semi. A video detailing the progress of the factory can be found below, providing a glimpse into the ongoing buildout inside the facility.
The Tesla Semi factory's construction progress was first revealed in an earlier look inside the Semi factory in April. Since then, the factory has made significant strides, with the completion of the stamping shop and the installation of tools in the Powder Coat and Material Conveyance shops.
Once fully operational, the factory is expected to offer better energy efficiency, torque, and lower operating costs than traditional heavy-duty trucks, making it an attractive option for businesses and fleets seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and lower costs.
