The "Umanas" automobile road, a critical artery in the city of Yakutsk, is currently undergoing a significant reconstruction project. This extensive overhaul is being carried out by ZAO "Roads of Sakha" as part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life."

The reconstruction covers a section of the road from the 20th to the 28th kilometer, and the works encompass a wide range of activities. These include widening the roadway, establishing the right-of-way, and building bypass roads. Additionally, the project includes the installation of 11 corrugated pipe culverts along the entire 8.1-kilometer stretch of the "Umanas" road.

The complex of works also includes modernising the road surface using advanced geosynthetics, milling of the existing surface, leveling, and stabilization of the road base using cold recycling with cement addition. This approach aims to strengthen the road surface and ensure its longevity.

Upon completion in 2027, the "Umanas" road will boast four lanes with an asphalt concrete pavement, making travel more efficient and safer for motorists. The road will also feature sidewalks, providing a safer pedestrian experience.

Two rest areas with gazebos will be constructed along the "Umanas" road, offering weary travellers a chance to rest and rejuvenate. Moreover, 12 bus stops with shelters will be installed, improving public transportation facilities.

The "Umanas" road project also includes LED lighting, enhancing visibility and safety for night-time travel. A new overpass will also be built, further improving the road's infrastructure.

The logistic connection to the under-construction Lena Bridge is ensured by "Nam" and "Umanas" highways, which are part of the republic's backbone road network in the territory of Yakutsk city. This network is currently being developed as part of national projects led by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In previous years, similar works were carried out on sections of regional roads "Nam" and "Umanas." The "Umanas" road reconstruction is not the only project under the national project "Infrastructure for Life"; it forms part of a larger initiative to improve Russia's road network.

However, as of June 2024, there is no publicly available detailed update specifically on the "Infrastructure for Life" project related to the "Umanas" road reconstruction in Russia. Therefore, the progress status or estimated completion date of this project cannot be provided at this time. For accurate and up-to-date information on this project, it is recommended to check official Russian government or Ministry of Transport sources or official national infrastructure project portals.

The 'Infrastructure for Life' project, under the framework of which the 'Umanas' road reconstruction is being executed, also extends to improvements in other sectors. This includes upgrades in the industry, finance, and transportation sectors to ensure comprehensive infrastructure development.

Upon completion, the enhanced 'Umanas' road will not only benefit the transportation sector by facilitating smoother and safer travel for motorists but also foster economic growth in the industry and finance sectors by streamlining logistics and trade activities.
