Construction in the Krasnodar region ranks high for building multi-apartment dwellings, placing it among the top three regions nationwide.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of Russian real estate, Krasnodar Krai continues to make significant strides in multi-apartment housing construction. According to recent data, the region was the second-largest contributor to multi-apartment housing construction volume in the first half of 2025, with a commissioning of 1,157 thousand square meters of housing, marking a 30.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

Krasnodar Krai's leading position is attributed to the construction boom that has been observed in the region for several years. Last year, the capital city of Krasnodar saw 2.34 square meters of housing commissioned per resident, maintaining its position as a key player in the Russian housing market.

In 2024, Krasnodar even surpassed Moscow to become the leader in housing commissioning in Russia. However, in the first half of 2025, Moscow regained its lead with a commissioning volume of 2,200 thousand square meters of multi-apartment buildings, representing a 61.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.

While no specific data was provided for the commissioning of multi-apartment housing in other regions apart from the top 5, including Moscow and Krasnodar Krai, Tatarstan was identified as the fifth-largest region in terms of multi-apartment housing construction volume in the same period. St. Petersburg also ranked third in multi-apartment housing construction volume from January to June 2025.

Interestingly, global trends suggest that some international urban regions are experiencing shifts in rental competitiveness and construction activity, influenced by economic and demographic factors. However, precise statistics for Krasnodar Krai for 2025 are not currently available, necessitating further regional Russian housing market sources for accurate insights.

Meanwhile, in the United States, the top regions leading in multifamily or multi-apartment housing construction are the Northeast, Midwest, South, West, and Southeast/Mountain West States. The Northeast region experienced a significant growth of 111.8% year-over-year in multifamily starts, followed by the Midwest with a growth of 65.9%. The South and West regions showed more modest growth, while the Southeast/Mountain West States continue to see relatively high new housing construction rates.

As the construction landscape in Krasnodar Krai and Russia continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these regions compare in future housing construction statistics.

The finance and industry sectors in Krasnodar Krai have significantly benefited from the construction boom, with the region commissioned 1,157 thousand square meters of multi-apartment housing in the first half of 2025. In the context of global trends, some international urban regions are experiencing shifts in rental competitiveness and construction activity, making it crucial to monitor the future housing construction statistics in Krasnodar Krai.
