Hohengebraching Bypass Project Completed

The Hohengebraching bypass project, designed to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in the Hohengebraching area, has been completed. Here's a look at the key details, improvements, and updates related to the project.

Details of the Hohengebraching Bypass Project

The project's primary goal is to divert through-traffic away from the village centre of Hohengebraching, thereby reducing traffic congestion, improving road safety, and enhancing the quality of life for residents. The bypass involves building a new stretch of road around the outskirts of the village, connecting major roads to facilitate smoother traffic movement.

The project may include new roadways, bridges, and pedestrian and cycling paths to improve local mobility. The construction period can range from a few months to several years, depending on the complexity and scale.

Improvements

The significant reduction in traffic jams and delays within the village centre is expected. Additionally, the project aims to decrease accidents by removing heavy and fast-moving traffic from residential areas. Potential improvements in air quality and noise reduction in the village are also anticipated. Enhanced connectivity can boost local business and accessibility.

Cost

The total cost for such bypass projects can vary widely but typically ranges from a few million to several tens of millions of euros/dollars, depending on length, complexity, and additional infrastructure. The Hohengebraching bypass project was estimated to cost approximately 1.3 million euros. Funding for the project came from a combination of sources, including the Landkreis, the Pentling municipality, and the Wasserzweckverband-Süd.

Funding

The Landkreis was the funder for the renewal of the roadway, sidewalks, and the new stormwater drain with rain retention basin. The costs for the pedestrian and cycle path were shared equally between the Pentling municipality and the Landkreis, while the Wasserzweckverband-Süd was responsible for the costs of renewing the water supply. The Bavarian government provided funding of 445,000 euros for the completed construction project.

Responsible Parties

The project was overseen by the local transport authority. Construction was contracted to selected construction companies through a bidding process. Planning and approval were the responsibility of the local government, transport ministries, environmental agencies, and community stakeholders.

Completion and Opening

Landrat Tanja Schweiger and Pentling's mayor Barbara Wilhelm jointly opened the expanded local bypass. Traffic on the Pentling municipality's county road R 4 has resumed since July 8. The newly constructed Hohengebraching bypass now has wider sidewalks, with both sidewalks on the local bypass rebuilt barrier-free, widened to 1.5 and 1.8 meters.

Landrat Tanja Schweiger officially opened the Hohengebraching local bypass, marking the completion of this much-anticipated project. The extension of the existing combined pedestrian and cycle path by approximately 170 meters, the installation of a new stormwater drain and rain retention basin at the Hohengebraching exit, and the roof renovation on the Hohengebraching exit to the Oberhinkofen branch are also part of the project's improvements. The asphalt surface layer was renewed in 2024 from Hohengebraching towards Seedorf to the Oberhinkofen branch as part of the bypass construction.

The Hohengebraching bypass project, completed recently, aimed to divert finance towards improving transportation and reducing congestion, by building a new stretch of road that would contribute to the finance sector by boosting local business and accessibility. The project's success is anticipated to bring about improvements in air quality and noise reduction, as well as a significant reduction in traffic jams and accidents.

The completion of the Hohengebraching bypass project also marked the installation of a new stormwater drain and rain retention basin, as part of the project's efforts to address the concerns of the 'Water Supply' entity, contributing to the overall improvement of the local infrastructure within the industry and finance sectors.
