Company MGM Expands Board with Appointment of NBCUniversal Chairman Langley
MGM Resorts International Welcomes Dame Donna Langley to its Board of Directors
In a significant move for the casino gaming industry, MGM Resorts International (NYSE: MGM) has appointed Dame Donna Langley to its board of directors on March 12, 2025. Langley, the chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment & Studios, brings a wealth of entertainment and media experience to the table.
With this appointment, Langley becomes the 13th member of the MGM board. She joins Alexis Herman, Mary Chris Jammet, and Rose McKinney James as the fourth woman on the MGM board, further extending MGM's status as having one of the highest percentages of female board members in the casino gaming industry.
Langley's extensive background in entertainment will be invaluable to MGM. During her time at NBCUniversal, she oversaw the production of profitable film hits such as the Despicable Me, Fast & Furious, and Jason Bourne franchises. In 2023, under her leadership, director Christopher Nolan turned out the critically acclaimed hit Oppenheimer for NBCUniversal.
Langley is believed to be the executive who lured director Christopher Nolan away from Warner Bros. Her addition to the MGM board could be beneficial as the company seeks to broaden its appeal to younger demographics and expand its internet footprint.
Barry Diller, IAC/InterActiveCorp Chairman and the largest shareholder in MGM, also brings extensive entertainment and media experience to the table. He has previously served as Vice President of Primetime Television for ABC Entertainment, Chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures Corporation, and oversaw the creation of Fox Broadcasting Corp. Diller is the first MGM director with such extensive entertainment and media experience, while Langley is the second.
MGM CEO Bill Hornbuckle stated that Langley will be a tremendous asset to the executive team at MGM Resorts. Similarly, MGM Chairman Paul Salem stated that she will be a tremendous asset to the board and the company.
Langley has full oversight of the entertainment programming and marketing efforts across networks including Bravo, NBC, and the Peacock streaming platform. She was also involved in producing or overseeing the release of critically acclaimed films in 2023 at NBCUniversal, including major projects like "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," which was a box office success and well-received by critics.
With the addition of Dame Donna Langley, MGM is poised to leverage her expertise in content strategy, programming, distribution, and marketing to drive its future growth and success.
