Committee for Policy Advising on the National Industrial Security Program (NISP)

The National Industrial Security Program Policy Advisory Committee (NISPPAC) is a significant body established on January 8, 1993, by the President under Executive Order 12829. This committee, which serves as a bridge between industry and national security policy, offers the industry a voice at the national level.

The NISPPAC is chaired by the Director of the Information Security Oversight Office, who is responsible for appointing its members. The committee includes 16 representatives from executive branch agencies and 8 representatives from industry. This diverse composition ensures a balanced perspective in discussions and decision-making.

One of the primary roles of the NISPPAC is to advise the Information Security Oversight Office on all matters concerning the policies of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The committee's recommendations can result in changes to Executive Order 12829, its implementing directives, and the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual.

The NISPPAC communicates with stakeholders through the blog, ISOO Overview, and its meetings are open to the public and are held at least twice a year at the discretion of the Chair. The meetings provide an opportunity for industry stakeholders to engage directly with the committee and discuss policy issues.

While there are no publicly available search results or official announcements from 2023 indicating which individuals were appointed to lead the NISPPAC or to determine its members, stakeholders can contact the Information Security Oversight Office via email at [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected] for more information.

In addition to the NISPPAC, NCMS maintains a website that provides useful security information for industry. This website serves as a resource for industry to understand non-governmental member's involvement in security matters and to stay informed about the ever-changing security posture. However, it is important to note that the website does not contain content provided by ISOO and ISOO does not endorse NCMS or its membership.

Moreover, the website does not provide direct contact for questions. Queries should be directed to NCMS directly. The organization also provides resources for the development of security professionals through training, mentoring, and certification.

Lastly, it is crucial to clarify that NCMS is not associated with the Government Services Administration (GSA), which was not mentioned in the previous paragraphs. The website serves as an additional resource for industry to stay informed about the ever-changing security posture.
