Commercial Control: September Sees Surge in Violation Cases, 1,583 Incidents

The Commercial Control Department reported a surge in violation cases in September, with 1,583 incidents recorded. The majority, 1,450, were detected during field inspections, while 133 were based on consumer complaints. Several businesses faced penalties, including a wooden door installation shop closed for contract breaches and repeated violations.

Among the penalised companies, a gifts and luxury goods retailer received four citations for various sales regulations violations. However, no records confirm this incident occurred in September '20XX'. The violations spanned 34 categories, with the most common being price advertising regulations, lack of Arabic on signs, exchange and return regulations, operating without a license, and commercial fraud.

Faisal Al Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department, announced plans to strengthen oversight mechanisms and increase technology use to monitor violations and safeguard consumers and compliant merchants.

September saw a high number of violation reports, with multiple businesses penalised. The department is committed to enhancing monitoring methods to protect consumers and fair traders. Despite the high number of cases, the ministry aims to ensure all businesses operate within the law.
