Commencement of raw construction in January: Tochhaus at Alexanderplatz, a new Kaufhof project
In a significant development for the cityscape of Berlin-Mitte, the urban development contract for the high-rise project at Alexanderplatz has been transferred from Signa Prime to Commerz Real. This change of hands marks a new chapter in the construction of the 134-meter high-rise, as the company responsible for the Shell structure remains unidentified following the dismissal of Signa Real Estate.
Mario Schuettau, fund manager of Hausinvest, has confirmed that the lease agreement for the property is not open to discussion. The progress of the work and the scheduled start of construction in January 2024 are seen as an important signal for the development of Alexanderplatz and the securing of the department store location.
Senator for Urban Development, Christian Gaebler, expressed his satisfaction with the continuation of the project and believes that Commerz Real is a reliable partner in ensuring its success. Notably, no information about a potential temporary closure of Galeria Kaufhof due to modernization during ongoing operations has been disclosed.
However, it's worth noting that no new articles, projects, or locations related to high-rises were mentioned in this update. The lease agreement with Galeria World City House remains unchanged, indicating a steady foundation for the project's future.
As the construction process moves forward, the city of Berlin eagerly awaits the completion of this high-rise development, which promises to further enrich the vibrant landscape of Alexanderplatz.
