Collaboration between meetNKY, TANK, and Southbank Shuttle: Complimentary transportation services for convention participants

The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky (TANK) has teamed up with meetNKY and the Southbank Shuttle to offer free transportation to convention attendees, aiming to make visits to Northern Kentucky more accessible for those attending major events near me, meetings, and conventions.

According to Gina Douthat, TANK's general manager, this new partnership will significantly enhance transportation options for visitors, contributing to the region's growing reputation as a prime destination for events.

Julie Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of meetNKY, emphasised the importance of conventions and meetings in supporting local businesses. She highlighted that these events bring in thousands of visitors each year, bolstering the income of hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets.

In 2024, meetNKY saw a 30% increase in lead volume, with event organisers reporting a 100% satisfaction rate. To remain competitive, meetNKY is investing in both facilities and amenities for guests, with the new partnership being one such investment.

These investments have proven fruitful, as in 2024, meetNKY secured over 48,000 future room nights, resulting in a $25 million economic impact, a 20% increase year-over-year.

In 2025, the NKY Convention Center will host several major organisations and events, including the Retail Confectioners International, Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation, MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), and the Kentucky Bar Association. Convention attendees visiting Northern Kentucky for these events can receive a convention pass sticker, granting them free rides on Southbank Shuttle and TANK transportation.

The transportation program is funded by a grant and a $200,000 investment by meetNKY, with an evaluation scheduled at the end of 2026. For more information about the new TANK route, visit tankbus.org. To learn more about meetNKY and the events they coordinate, visit meetNKY.com.
