Eastern Germany Takes Top Honors: Leipzig, BMW & Porsche's Traffic Pit

For its study, Allianz Direct compared travel times of commuters in key German cities. Unsurprisingly, the traffic congested epicenter of the country is Leipzig. With an average commute time of 46.43 minutes and an overall average commute time of 50.60 minutes, Leipzig tops the list. The city, home to big names such as BMW and Porsche, continues to suffer from heavy traffic.

Munich trails behind in second place, with an average travel time of 34.38 minutes and a commute time of 39.06 minutes, according to Allianz Direct. It's worth noting that commuters need to allocate less time during the morning commute compared to the evening.
