CHD's 'Green Village' Wins Asian Impact Award for Second Year
China Huadian Corporation (CHD), operating as PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP) in Indonesia, has been recognised for its commitment to sustainability and community development. For the second consecutive year, CHD has received the Platinum Award for Global Sustainable Development at the Asian Impact Awards, held in Jakarta in September 2025.
The award-winning 'Green Village' program, initiated by HBAP, transforms treated coal ash into eco-friendly fertilizer, promoting sustainable agriculture. The program also develops greenhouse farming and provides agricultural training to local communities in Muara Enim, South Sumatra.
The program's four key contributions - free fertilizer, improved seeds, expert guidance, and guaranteed produce procurement - have significantly raised household incomes and enhanced food security in the region. This is particularly notable given that HBAP's 2×660 MW mine-mouth power plant, the company's largest investment in Indonesia, began commercial operation in October 2023, delivering stable energy to the area.
HBAP's 'Green Village' program, coupled with its power plant operations, demonstrates a long-term commitment to integrating green development with local community growth. This approach creates shared economic and social benefits, as recognised by the prestigious Asian Impact Awards.
