Celebrated Sharing of U1 During Spring Break

Vienna, Austria - From April 12 to 21, passengers using the U1 subway line in Vienna will experience some changes due to the ongoing modernization of the tunnels and tracks between Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof and Reumannplatz. The works are being carried out by Wiener Linien.

Despite the renovations, the operation of the U1 line will not be affected. Passengers can continue to travel between Leopoldau and Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof, as well as between Oberlaa and Reumannplatz. However, during this period, the U1 will not operate in the area between Südtiroler Platz and Reumannplatz.

To accommodate these changes, Line 6 will transport passengers from the 10th and 11th districts to the U4 station Margaretengürtel at a reduced 4-minute interval during the Easter holidays. This will provide an alternative route for those who would normally use the U1 line.

In addition, the new switches will be installed in the area of Keplerplatz Station during the Easter holidays. This is part of the overall modernization of the subway line between Südtiroler Platz-Hauptbahnhof and Reumannplatz.

For those who prefer using the U1 line, a replacement service will be provided by tram line E1. The E1 line will operate every 5 minutes between Reumannplatz and Quartier Belvedere during the day, providing an alternative route for passengers.

Passengers are advised to allow for more time and can plan their individual route on wienmobil.at or in the WienMobil app. Since February, the tunnel sealing above has also been renewed, which is another part of the ongoing modernization project.

The works on the tunnel ceiling will not affect the U1's operation. The tunnel sealing renewal is being carried out separately from the modernization of the tunnels and tracks.

These changes are part of Wiener Linien's ongoing efforts to modernize and improve Vienna's public transportation system. Passengers are encouraged to check the latest updates on wienmobil.at or the WienMobil app for any further information.
