Car charging will soon be available at Bojangles

In the ever-evolving world of fast food, one Charlotte-based chain is making a significant leap forward by announcing plans to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at most of its approximately 800 locations. Bojangles, known for its Southern-style chicken and biscuits, will join a growing list of fast-food chains offering EV charging, including Waffle House, Denny's, Cracker Barrel, and Love's Travel Stops.

Bojangles' EV Charging Strategy

The partnership between Alyath, Smart Big Box, and Bojangles is part of a larger project to introduce electric vehicle charging at various restaurant chains. Bojangles plans to equip most of its locations with EV charging stations, with installations starting in late 2025 and expanding through 2026. Each restaurant will have a minimum of four charging spots, and the chargers will be "top-of-the-line" with a focus on convenience and an eco-friendly customer experience.

Charging Infrastructure

The charging infrastructure will include both Level 2 chargers and DC fast chargers. Installation and operation are handled through partnerships with Smart Big Box, Alyath EV, and Energy and Environmental Design Services. The chargers will have medium to high-speed charging efficiency, ensuring that customers can charge their cars efficiently while enjoying a meal at Bojangles.

Bojangles' Move Aligns with Customer Needs

Richard Del Valle, the chain's chief information officer, states that Bojangles' move to add EV charging stations aligns with evolving customer needs. The charging stations are expected to have more than 97% uptime, ensuring that customers can rely on them for their EV charging needs. Energy and Environmental Design Services will install the charging stations at Bojangles restaurants.

Bojangles' EV Charging Stations: A Game Changer

With the rollout of the charging stations at Bojangles, customers will be able to charge their cars starting in 2026. This move by Bojangles makes it one of the first fast-food chains to make EV charging widely available at its restaurants, potentially further blurring the lines between fast-food chains and convenience stores that frequently feature gas.

A Growing Trend

As of mid-2025, at least a dozen well-known retail and restaurant chains have integrated EV charging into their locations, and the list is growing. Besides Bojangles, some of these chains include Waffle House, Denny's, Cracker Barrel, and Love's Travel Stops, which offers fast food and significant EV charging infrastructure.

In summary, Bojangles is indeed among the fast-food chains offering EV charging stations, with a comprehensive rollout planned for most of its locations starting in late 2025 and continuing into 2026. The total number of fast-food and restaurant chains with EV charging is at least around a dozen major players and expanding.
