Bus Service Replaces Trains on U35 Line in Bochum
The upcoming maintenance works on Universitätsstraße in Bochum will cause significant disruptions to the U35 line, as announced by local transit operator Bogestra. The works are scheduled to start on Wednesday, August 6, and last until Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
During this period, passengers can expect traffic disruptions and temporary lane reductions on Universitätsstraße. The U35 line will be divided into two phases during the maintenance works, with the train service ending at the Gesundheitscampus stop from August 22 to 26.
To accommodate the increased demand during the maintenance works, additional vehicles will be added to lines 344 and 346. However, it's important to note that the replacement bus service timetables will differ from the U35 train line's timetables.
Buses will replace the train service in the closed sections of the U35 line, with the maintenance works affecting the route between the stops Uni-Ost and Lennershof. Unfortunately, no specific information has been provided about a replacement bus service for the section between Uni-Ost and Lennershof during the maintenance works.
Passengers are advised to check their individual connections in advance due to the different timetables of the replacement bus service. The current timetables for the replacement bus service can be found online at www.bogestra.de or in the Mutti-App.
Bogestra recommends avoiding the construction area if possible. For the most accurate and up-to-date information about traffic and public transport arrangements for the U35 line during August 6–27, 2025, including possible replacement buses and timetable changes on Universitätsstraße, it is recommended to check Bogestra’s official website or customer service closer to the date. They usually publish special notices for line closures, construction work, and alternative transport services well in advance.
The disruptions to the U35 line due to maintenance works will likely impact the transportation industry, especially public-transit, in Bochum, as announced by Bogestra. To aid passengers during this period, additional finance will be invested in the provision of more vehicles on lines 344 and 346.
