Bus service provider FlixBus initiates domestic operations within Romania, connecting over 50 cities through affordable travel routes.

Starting July 10, 2025, FlixBus has launched its first domestic coach routes in Romania, significantly expanding its presence with over 50 cities connected across all regions of the country. This move represents a substantial development for the country's coach travel infrastructure, promoting regional connectivity and supporting the tourism sector's growth.

The new routes, in addition to connecting major cities like Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Constanța, Iași, Timișoara, Brașov, and Sibiu, aim to provide easy access to less connected areas across Romania. The service is operated in partnership with local transport companies, offering convenient and affordable travel options.

More than 50 cities are connected through 10 domestic intercity lines, covering east, west, north, and south Romania. The domestic network is integrated with FlixBus’s international routes, allowing seamless travel to regional destinations like Sofia, Thessaloniki, and Balchik in Bulgaria.

Tickets can be purchased via the FlixBus website, app, SelfPay kiosks, and over 1,000 partner travel agencies. Fares start at RON 9.99 per trip, varying based on availability and booking time, making it a low-cost option suitable for a wide range of travelers. Bookings open from July 3 to July 31, 2025, for travel dates from July 10 through September 15, 2025.

Adrian Rasoiu, Business Development Director at FlixBus Romania, stated, "We aim to support local tourism by providing easy access to destinations across the country, including less connected areas." The expansion aims to boost local tourism by enhancing access to key tourist destinations across Romania, including places previously less accessible by coach.

Coach travel is already popular among foreign tourists in Romania; in 2024, nearly 37,000 international visitors arrived by coach, ranking it among the top three transport modes alongside trains and planes. Transport-related spending by tourists increased by over 15% last year, reflecting growing demand for connected and accessible travel options. The new routes are expected to further stimulate tourism by providing easy, affordable, and integrated transport solutions that facilitate travel between Romanian cities and neighboring countries.

FlixBus is partnering with local transport companies to connect all major cities and key tourist destinations across Romania. The partnership aims to gradually connect all major cities in eastern, western, northern, and southern Romania. This development is set to revolutionise travel within and beyond Romania's borders, offering a more connected and accessible travel experience for all.

The new routes, formed in collaboration with local transport companies, extend beyond major cities and target less connected areas in Romania, thereby integrating the finance sector with the automotive industry through affordable travel options. This expansion, set to enhance the growth of Romania's tourism sector, aligns with the increasing demand for transport solutions that promote regional connectivity, as evidenced by the rising transport-related spending by tourists.
