Get a Raise, Construction Workers!

Prepare to dig deeper into your pockets starting June, as the latest union deal ratified by Uocra (Argentine Republic's Construction Workers' Union) and sector businesses brings a much-needed boost to construction workers' paychecks. The agreement, which updates wages for all categories and pays fixed allowances, is set to beneficial impact your earnings during the May-June bi-monthly stretch and beyond.

The juice is divided into two servings. The initial baking happens in May 2025, resulting in a 1.2% increase on existing salaries, with an extra 1% stacked on top. The cherry on top? A separate 1% hike kicks into action from June 2025, also calculated based on the salaries effective as of May 30, 2025. These increases are cumulative, ensuring you'll feel that sweet, hard-earned boost to your bank account.

Zoning in on the dough, the breakdown looks like this:

  • Helper Zone "A": $33,000 per month
  • Middle-Level Official Zone "A": $34,000
  • Official Zone "A": $38,000
  • Specialized Official Zone "A": $40,000
  • Night Watchmen, regardless of zone, pull in a whopping $546,949 per month.

The ink on the agreement was penned by Uocra, Camarco (Argentine Chamber of Construction), and FAEC (Argentine Federation of Construction Entities). The document further stipulates the formation of a special committee tasked with keeping a watchful eye on economic factors and the construction sector's wide-ranging impact on society, with a rendezvous scheduled for June 17, 2025, to discuss any required adjustments commencing July 2025.
