Bonprix Abandons CEO Role, Adopts Collective Leadership
Bonprix will not immediately appoint a new CEO after Torben Hansen's departure on October 31, 2025. Instead, a collective leadership model will be implemented from January 1, 2026, with Nicolai Johannsen joining as Chief Marketing Officer and three other board members sharing responsibilities.
Torben Hansen, who has been CEO since spring 2024, will leave due to differing strategic views. During his tenure, he oversaw brand and content, digital marketing, European sales management, and people and organisation departments.
From January 2026, Nicolai Johannsen will take over as Chief Marketing Officer, focusing on sales. Johannsen, who has been with the Otto Group since 2011, has a proven track record. He successfully modernised traditional sales concepts, expanded digital channels, and developed the 'Otto Up' customer loyalty programme. Marcus Ackermann, Otto Group executive board member, expressed confidence in Johannsen's leadership for Bonprix's future. Johannsen will join a four-person team including Carolin Klar, Matthias Wlaka, and Kai Heck, who will collectively run the management and share leadership duties.
Bonprix's new leadership model, effective from January 1, 2026, will see Nicolai Johannsen as Chief Marketing Officer and a four-person team sharing responsibilities. This change follows Torben Hansen's departure due to differing strategic views. The Otto Group is confident in Johannsen's ability to drive Bonprix's future success.
