Bing Crosby Achieves First Top 10 Ranking on a Single Chart Posthumously, After Decades

In the winter of 2024, Bing Crosby once again enjoys a flourishing period of fame worldwide. Every year, around November and December, the legendary singer resurfaces on charts worldwide as people start to play his iconic Christmas tracks as the festive season approaches. Throughout his career, Crosby produced numerous songs tailored for the festive season, and his success continues, even decades after his demise.

Crosby charts a new top 10 hit in the UK this week. His recent success stems from his devoted fanbase, which remains strong even after half a century.

This time around, "White Christmas" makes a comeback on two British charts. The track, recently re-released as a duet with BTS singer V, has triggered a strong fan reaction, making it a smash hit.

The V-edited "White Christmas" debuts at No. 10 on the Official Vinyl Singles chart in the UK, granting Crosby his first-ever entry on the list of top-selling individual tracks on vinyl in the UK. He manages this impressive feat on his very first try.

Upon entering the Official Vinyl Singles chart, the V-edited version of "White Christmas" also enters another ranking, just short of matching the vinyl chart's accomplishment. The collaboration debuts at No. 15 on the Official Physical Singles chart, where it securely settles at No. 15.

Furthermore, the reworked "White Christmas" can be found on one other UK chart, although it fails to achieve a new peak. In its second stint on the Official Singles Sales chart, the duet drops from the runner-up position, where it stood in the previous period, to No. 47.

The original version of "White Christmas" also appears on one UK chart during this period, but the tally seems relatively small for the season—though the V remix may have absorbed much of the attention away from the classic. On the list of most-streamed tracks in the UK, Crosby slips from No. 48 to No. 82, as the public in Britain begins to move on from the holiday and shifts their listening focus to the new version of the hit.

The resurgence of Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" on the UK charts is not limited to the singles charts. It also re-enters the Billboard UK Chart, demonstrating his global appeal and enduring influence.

This time, the BTS V remix of "White Christmas" makes its way onto the UK's official album charts. The collaboration with V appears in the "Bing Crosby BTS V White Christmas" vinyl album, which debuts at a respectable position.

Interest in Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" is not just limited to vinyl and albums. The song also sees a boost in digital sales, as it re-emerges on the UK's Official Digital Singles Chart.

The renewed interest in "White Christmas" is not exclusive to the UK. In fact, the song sees a significant surge in sales and popularity in other parts of the world, including the US, where it tops the iTunes sales chart, and in countries like Australia and New Zealand, where it re-enters the top 10.

Bing Crosby's enduring popularity is also evident in the UK's official merchandise charts, where "White Christmas" merchandise sees a significant increase in sales, including vinyl records, CDs, t-shirts, and other holiday-themed items.
