Bergisch Gladbach Boosts Citizen Involvement in Urban Planning
Bergisch Gladbach is enhancing citizen involvement in urban planning, despite not needing formal plan approval for certain projects. The city aims to improve safety and traffic flow without expanding motor vehicle lanes.
The city is planning a new road overpass to replace the closed level crossing at Tannenbergstraße. The overpass will cross railway tracks and ease long waiting times caused by a second track addition. Although the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis authority registered a plan approval procedure, the city proceeded without it, deeming the changes minor.
The planned redesign of Altenberger-Dom-Straße also avoids a significant redesign classification. Instead, it adapts to modern standards, focusing on safety and traffic requirements. The local authority confirmed the city's legal stance on this project.
Bergisch Gladbach's urban planning includes a new road overpass and street redesign, both aiming to improve safety and traffic flow. Despite ongoing plan approval procedures, the city has acted legally and offered citizens a say in the process.
