Embracing SlashingThe pandemic has sparked a shift in companies' interest in this semi-regulated work arrangement, and Forvis Mazars has been on board since 2020. Charlotte Gouiard, director of recruitment and employer brand, explains, "After Covid, we decided to remove a clause preventing employees from engaging in multiple professional activities. We keep a non-compete clause but accept multiactivity outside the firm."

This flexible policy caters to modern expectations of finding purpose and meaning at work. It encourages employees to explore parallel projects without affecting their regular office duties. As Charlotte Gouiard points out, "This initiative offers an attractive proposition for an entire generation seeking to work on passion-driven careers."

From "Side Project" to Multi-Hyphenate SuccessForvis Mazars currently has around fifteen declared "slasheurs" active in various sectors, including coaching, restaurant management, YouTube, social media influencing, speaking, therapy, sports, winemaking, and taxidermy! Sébastien Binet, a change management consultant who joined in 2022, is among them.

Alongside his Mazars Forvis job, Sébastien manages an amateur handball club for over ten years, spending roughly 25 hours each week on club-related matters. "My experiences within the club have greatly helped me cultivate better organization skills, which I apply in my professional role," he shares. On top of this double life, Sébastien recently opened the restaurant L'impro with his chef brother and friend in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines).

Sébastien contributes to L'impro's business planning and provides service on Friday evenings when needed. "I couldn't imagine a life with just one activity; it keeps me stimulated," he says. Management appreciates his diverse talents and encourages employees to discuss ongoing projects. "It's reassuring to work in an environment that supports personal development," adds Sébastien.

Empowering Employee ShareholdingTo ensure "slasheurs" maintain balance, management closely monitors their commitments to avoid abuse. "Our role is to ensure a harmony between their primary activity and their secondary endeavors," explains Charlotte Gouiard. So far, no employees have left their full-time positions to focus solely on their parallel projects. Most of these secondary activities are not particularly profitable. "We adjust work timetables as needed," she states.

Fueling Entrepreneurial SpiritsTo best support "slasheurs," managers prioritize accountability and versatility. By doing so, they create an environment that nurtures creativity and collaboration.
