In a strategic move to expand its operations in South Africa and revolutionize cross-border payments across Africa, Yellow Card, a leading pan-African exchange, has appointed Kamogelo Mosime as its new South Africa country manager.

Under Mosime's leadership, Yellow Card aims to address the challenges faced by the African financial ecosystem, such as high foreign exchange fees, transaction delays, and inefficient payment processes. The company's expansion strategy, spearheaded by Mosime, focuses on leveraging cutting-edge blockchain technology and partnerships to pioneer frictionless digital payments.

One such partnership is with global payment network Visa, which was announced in June 2025. This collaboration aims to integrate stablecoins into Visa's global payment infrastructure, enabling fast, cost-effective cross-border settlements across Africa, including South Africa. The initial pilot is planned for late 2025, with a view to rapid scaling across African markets.

Another significant partnership is with Aptos Labs, which provides a high-speed blockchain supporting over 11,000 transactions per second with near-instant finality. This partnership targets zero-fee, instant USDT stablecoin transactions for millions of users in 20 African countries, including South Africa. The Aptos network sponsors all gas fees during the rollout campaign, enhancing accessibility and affordability for users in cross-border payments, payroll, and everyday purchases.

Mosime's appointment comes at a time when Yellow Card is consolidating its standing in South Africa. The exchange secured a Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA)-issued license to operate legally as a financial services provider in South Africa last November. Additionally, Yellow Card has recently expanded its business-to-business product offerings.

Prior to joining Yellow Card, Mosime worked as an independent associate at financial services provider GEMP Group. His appointment is aimed at strengthening Yellow Card's position in South Africa, as the company continues to innovate and drive financial inclusion across the continent.

Last year, Yellow Card raised $33 million in Series C funding, positioning the company to lead the charge in transforming Africa's financial landscape through blockchain technology and strategic partnerships. With Mosime at the helm, Yellow Card is poised to make significant strides in South Africa and beyond.
