Anti-Corruption Court Freezes KNH CEO's Sh229M Assets
The Anti-Corruption High Court in Nairobi has taken action against the temporarily suspended chief executive of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Evanson Njoroge Kamuri. The court has frozen assets worth Sh229 million belonging to Kamuri.
The court's move comes following allegations of corruption and mismanagement during Kamuri's tenure. The frozen assets include properties and bank accounts. The court also ordered Kamuri to deposit his passport with the registrar of the court to prevent him from leaving the country.
Kamuri was suspended from his position in April this year pending investigations into the allegations. The hospital's board of management appointed Dr. Thomas Mutie as the acting CEO during Kamuri's suspension.
The freezing of Kamuri's assets is a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the corruption allegations at KNH. The court's order ensures that the assets remain untouched until the conclusion of the case. Kamuri is expected to cooperate with the investigation and appear in court as required.
