AfRES 24th Annual Conference: Building for Africa's Sustainable Future

The African Real Estate Society (AfRES) held its 24th Annual Conference Gala Night, with the theme 'Building for the Future: Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous African Communities'. Dr Oladega Adebogun, founder of Caleb Group of Schools, delivered a keynote address, highlighting Africa's urbanisation challenges and opportunities.

Dr Adebogun stressed that Africa's rapid urbanisation presents both obstacles and chances for sustainable development. He outlined a three-fold mandate for the real estate industry: firstly, to embrace green technologies to mitigate environmental impact. Secondly, to champion affordable housing, ensuring that urban growth benefits all. Lastly, to design spaces that stimulate economic prosperity, fostering inclusive communities.

Dr Adekunle Awolaja, the immediate past President of AfRES, led the event. Under his presidency, he oversaw award ceremonies honouring exceptional contributions in scholarship and industrial impact, though the exact year he assumed the role is unknown.

The conference, attended by real estate professionals from across Africa, underscored the sector's crucial role in shaping sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous African communities. Dr Adebogun's call to action, supported by Dr Awolaja's leadership, sets the stage for a more sustainable future in African real estate.
