Accountant Accused of Stealing $192k, Faces 13-Count Charge
An accountant and his company are facing serious charges. Oguibe Promise Nkwachukwu, formerly with Travelstar Web Logistics Limited, and Wifamapp Royalty Global Limited, are accused of stealing a substantial sum from the company. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought a 13-count charge against them.
Nkwachukwu is alleged to have converted $36,000 and $156,000 to his own use. The total amount involved in the fraud is said to be 200 million Naira. The case was brought before Justice R.A. Oshodi at the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Monday, October 6. Nkwachukwu pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The prosecution sought a trial date and remand in a correctional centre. The defence, however, applied for bail and remand in EFCC custody. The case has been adjourned to October 17, 2025, for the hearing of the bail application. Until then, Nkwachukwu remains remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos.
The court date for the preliminary hearing in this high-profile case is yet to be made public. The accused parties await their fate as the legal process unfolds.
