A4 Traffic Changes Due to Damaged DB Crossing 'Eifeltor'
Motorists using the A4 between Cologne-Klettenberg and Cologne-Eifeltor can expect changes due to damage at the DB crossing 'Eifeltor'. The identity of the motorway operating company involved in traffic regulation remains unknown.
The damaged DB crossing structure, widened in 1988 and further expanded in 1993, requires immediate attention. A speed limit of 40 km/h has been imposed to protect it. Heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes will be directed to the right, with two lanes remaining open in both directions during the day. However, occasional short-term lane closures may occur due to preparatory works.
Over two weekends, modified traffic management will be in place to provide immediate relief. On the first weekend (4/5.4. and 5/6.4.), the A4 exit and entry in the direction of Olpe at Cologne-Klettenberg will be closed, and the stretch between Cologne-Klettenberg and Cologne-Eifeltor will be reduced to one lane. On the second weekend (11/12.4. and 12/13.4.), the A4 in the direction of Aachen between Cologne-Eifeltor and Cologne-Klettenberg will face a similar reduction.
The damaged DB crossing 'Eifeltor' necessitates these traffic changes to ensure safety and facilitate repairs. Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and expect delays.
