15th Vande Bharat Express Launches in UP; Kerala's High Demand Faces Track Congestion
The Northern Railway zone will maintain and operate the 15th Vande Bharat Express in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, Kerala's high demand for Vande Bharat services faces challenges due to track congestion. MP M.K. Raghavan has requested sleeper services on key Kerala routes.
The 15th Vande Bharat Express in Uttar Pradesh will connect Lucknow Junction with Saharanpur, operated and maintained by the Northern Railway zone. Kerala, with two operational Vande Bharat trains, sees exceptional demand, often exceeding 160% occupancy. However, track congestion hinders the addition of more high-speed services in the state. The busy Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route in Kerala runs at full capacity year-round.
MP M.K. Raghavan has proposed sleeper services on three Kerala routes: Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode-Bengaluru, and Kozhikode-Chennai. A new Vande Bharat Sleeper service is being discussed for the Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram route.
Uttar Pradesh's 15th Vande Bharat Express will enhance connectivity between Lucknow Junction and Saharanpur. In Kerala, while demand for Vande Bharat services remains high, track congestion and the need for sleeper services are key challenges to be addressed.
